Local basketball organization, Rising Stars Basketball, adds two more athletes that will continue their academic and athletic careers at the collegiate ranks.

CJ Thompson

Curtis "CJ" Thompson Jr. has committed to play at the University of Stevens Point at Marshfield and join the Marauders Men's Basketball team.

CJ, an All-Conference selection in the 2023-2024 season finished his senior year with 16.6 points per game, and was a huge part of helping the Winter Warriors Boys Basketball team earn the Lakeland East Conference Championship, and Division 5 Regional Championship. Thompson will be pursuing an Associates Degree in Arts and Science.

Thompson is an athletic guard with a lot of spring in his step, and had numerous highlight dunks to put the cherry on top of his prep career. In addition to his scoring abilities and on-ball defense, CJ found his way into the Winter Warriors Boys Basketball record books with a 39 points performance at Lake Holcombe, which puts him 3 points short of the school record, 42 points, set by Trent Biller.

Owen Corbine-Nelis

Owen, a captain and senior leader for the Ashland Oredockers will join CJ at the University of Stevens Point at Marshfield. Corbine-Nelis averaged 8.9 points per game, while adding 3.6 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 2.3 steals per game. Owen will be pursuing a degree in Human Services while joining the Marauders Men's Basketball team.

Corbine-Nelis is an explosive guard with strong on-ball defense, and good court vision.

The Winter Warriors, Ashland Oredockers, and Rising Stars Basketball family congratulate these young men on taking the next step in their journey and look forward to seeing them do great things on and off the court.
